LOOM: The Fastest Way to Capture Videos!

So they say a picture is worth a thousand words. If that’s true, what is a video worth?

Today I am going to talk about one of my favourite productivity tools- the Loom Screen Recorder. Now, this is a fantastic tool that’s going to help you make short videos for a ton of different reasons.

Loom is a screen recording tool that lets you record and share your screen (or camera) with others in a matter of seconds. As simple as it sounds, it really transformed my routine and helped me to avoid several Zoom sessions.

How to Say it with Video?

That’s correct! Loom is a video communication platform and screen recorder for PCs that allows users to record and share videos of their screens, themselves, or both. It’s a useful tool for creating and sharing instructional videos, presentations, demos, and more.

To use Loom, you’ll need to install the screen recorder program on your computer. This will allow you to capture video and audio from your screen, webcam, and microphone. You can then use the web tool to edit and share your videos.

One of the benefits of Loom is that it’s easy to use and requires minimal setup. You can start recording a video with just a few clicks, and the finished product will be available for viewing almost immediately. This makes it a great tool for quickly creating and sharing video content.

If you’re looking to download a screen recorder for your Windows 10 computer, Loom is also a great option. It’s a video screen recorder for PC that allows you to capture video and audio from your screen, webcam, and microphone, and then edit and share your videos using the web tool, making it a convenient choice for quickly creating and sharing video content.

8. Click “Publish” to finish and share your video.

Remember, you can always choose to only record your screen if you don’t want to include your camera in the video. You can also adjust the recording settings to customise your video as needed.

Video Editing on Loom 🧑🏻‍💻

In addition to trimming and splitting, Loom also offers several other video editing tools that you can use to improve the quality and clarity of your videos.

One useful tool is the ability to add background music to your video. This can be done using a specialised app that allows you to record video with background music.

Another useful feature is the ability to record your laptop or desktop screen with audio. This can be done using a screen recorder, which is a software program that allows you to capture the activity on your screen and record it as a video. There are many screen recorders available, including ones specifically designed for use on Windows 10.

If you want to take a video of your screen, there are several options available. One option is to use a free screen recording software, which can be downloaded from the internet and used to record your screen. Another option is to use a screen recorder for PC, which can be downloaded and installed on your computer.

Video screen recording is a useful tool for creating video tutorials, demo videos, and more. Whether you are using a screen recorder for PC, a free screen recording software, or a specialised app to record video with background music, there are many options available to help you create high-quality videos.

Overall, Loom offers a range of useful video editing tools that can help you create professional-quality videos quickly and easily.

Audio Transcript 🎵

Yes, using the transcript of a video can be a useful way to quickly find specific information within the video and can also help with accessibility for users who may not be able to watch the video for various reasons. Some video platforms, including Loom, do offer the ability to search within the transcript of a video.

To use the transcript to power the search in your Loom account, you can try the following steps:

1. Make sure that you have a transcript of your video. If you don’t have one already, you can try using a transcription service or software to generate a transcript of the video.

2. Once you have the transcript, you can copy and paste it into the description field of the video on Loom. This will make the transcript searchable within Loom.

3. You can also add keywords and phrases to the title and description fields of the video to make it easier to find using the search function.

Using the transcript in this way can be a useful way to enhance the search functionality of your Loom account and make it easier for users to find the information they are looking for.

Add a Call to Action

If you are looking to add a call-to-action (CTA) button to a video, and you would like the ability to customize the appearance of the button and the link that it leads to. I would like to see how we can add multiple CTAs to different segments of the video, as well as the ability to move the CTA inside the player for more experienced users.

There are a few different ways you could go about adding a CTA button to a video.

One option: is to use a video editing software like Adobe Premiere Pro or Final Cut Pro, which allow you to add buttons and links to your videos.

You can also use online tools like Animoto or Biteable, which have built-in CTA button templates that you can customise and add to your videos.

If you are looking to add a CTA button to a video that is hosted on a video platform like YouTube or Vimeo, you may be able to use the platform’s built-in features or third-party tools to add the button.

For example, YouTube allows you to add annotations to your videos, which can include clickable links. There are also several third-party tools that can help you add CTAs to your videos on YouTube, such as TubeBuddy or VidIQ.

It’s worth noting that the specific options for adding CTAs to your videos will depend on the tools and platforms you are using. I recommend doing some research and experimenting to find the approach that works best for your needs.

Customise Video Thumbnail 😀

It is generally a good idea to choose a thumbnail that accurately represents the content of your video and will attract the attention of viewers.

Some video hosting platforms, such as YouTube, allow users to choose a specific frame from the video to use as the thumbnail.

If you would like to choose a random frame from your video to use as the thumbnail on Loom, you may need to use a third-party tool to extract a frame from the video and then upload it as the thumbnail on Loom

There are many tools available that allow you to extract a frame from a video, such as video editing software or online video frame extraction tools. You can then use this extracted frame as the thumbnail for your video on Loom.

In addition to choosing a thumbnail for your video, there are also many tools available that can help you create and record video content.

Some options include a video screen recorder for Windows, a voice recorder for YouTube videos, and a screen and voice recorder for PC.

There are also tools that allow you to record both video and sound, such as a video and sound recorder. If you want to record gameplay on an Android device, you can use a tool specifically designed for that purpose, such as a full screen recorder for PC.

Finally, there are also video screen recorders available for Windows 10, which can be a useful option for those using the latest version of the operating system.

What about sharing your Videos with Loom?🤝

After using the screen recorder to create a few videos, you are now completed. Let’s look at how to organise them and, most importantly, how to share them.

Remember that Loom’s main application is not to replace live streaming or widely distributed video. Loom is primarily a platform for internal video production for teaching and training purposes. The user interface is simple and extremely efficient.

The user interface is kept as straightforward as they can manage. It is not a functional issue. It involves carrying out fewer tasks exceptionally well. And they deliver.

Managing videos on Loom

You’ll be sent to the main dashboard, where you may see all of your own videos, as soon as you check in. The user interface is comparable to that of Google Drive or Dropbox:

By making folders or keeping everything together, you can organise your movies.

On the left side column, you may quickly choose between your own videos, videos shared with you, and team folders.

Additionally, you may easily access videos that have been bookmarked or archived. Since many of the Looms I record are for quick communications and I don’t need them once the receiver has watched them, I usually use the archive function.

Sharing videos with Loom

The access control for each video may be identified right away. Should only people who have the link to your video be able to watch it, or should only members of your team or the Loom team be able to?

Additionally, you can share the video and specify a certain time for it to start.

The wonderful feature of Loom’s user interface is that you can always click once to quickly copy a shared public link to the clipboard. Everything moves more quickly now.

The wonderful feature of Loom’s user interface is that you can always click once to quickly copy a shared public link to the clipboard. Everything moves more quickly now.

Under the “Social” page, you’ll find straightforward links for sharing the movie on all of the major social networks. The connection to the public Loom page will be shared, though.

To encourage interaction, I advise downloading the movie and posting it directly to your social network.

The “Embed” page allows you to instantly download both the HTML code to embed Looms on your website with a responsive or fixed-size player and the gif thumbnail (perfect for email embedding).

How much does Loom cost?💰

Users of Loom’s free version can upload 25 videos that are no longer than five minutes. The information is only enough to give you a general idea of the application. If you use Loom frequently, you may be prepared to pay.

You can make up to 25 videos, each of which can last up to 5 minutes, and invite up to 50 “creators lite” (team members with limited production abilities).

There is a video quality restriction for the Free edition as well. The best recording quality currently offered is 720p. sufficient for group cooperation.

What made me upgrade was the 5-minute time limit. Too frequently, I had to make two videos to get my point through. Paying annually will save you a little money on paid accounts, which start at $10 per person per month for a Business plan.

There is no restriction to the amount of uploads that can be made with the Business account. Additionally, you receive customised branding, secure video passwords, and the capacity to embed URLs in movies.

Each user must pay a subscription on a monthly and yearly basis. Overall, I believe that $10 per person is rather reasonable, and you are still welcome to invite as many team members as you like without charge as long as they do not require access to all features.

All restrictions are effectively lifted with the premium plan. You receive everything, including 4K resolution and limitless videos of any length.

Additionally, an Enterprise plan is offered. The cost is not stated. Single Sign On, high-priority support, and Salesforce integration are the main feature differences.

Loom costs about the same as other applications that also offer extensive video chat functionality. For instance, the video clips function in Slack(Opens in a new window) enables you to quickly capture your screen and share it with your coworkers. Only paid Slack users will have access to this service, and monthly costs start at $8 per person.

But I wouldn’t say that Slack and Loom are clearly comparable. Although Slack may be used for much more than just sharing recorded films, it doesn’t make it simple to share movies with people outside of your organisation. Teams who already spend money on Slack may be reluctant to spend money on Loom.

Things You Need to Know before you use Loom 🤓

You should be aware that once you begin recording with Loom’s screen recorder, it will immediately broadcast and store your video on the cloud.

Why should you be aware of this?

You should be aware that once you begin recording with Loom’s screen recorder, it will immediately broadcast and store your video on the cloud.

What does this mean, exactly? On the one hand, this contributes to Loom’s quickness. The operation is really quick because the movie is already ready for sharing when you press stop.

On the other hand, this can be a problem if you don’t have a fast internet connection.

When using Loom on a slow internet connection, you might not be able to record at maximum resolution and your uploaded movies might not finish uploading. Although rare, it might yet happen.

It also suggests that if you are not online, you cannot use the screen recorder.

Loom has a public product board and frequent software updates. The offline recording has been requested and will likely be made accessible soon.

Most Loom users, especially those who use it for business, do not have a severe problem with this screen recorder restriction. However, I felt I needed to emphasise it for a complete Loom.

My Take on Loom 👀

One of the standout features of Loom is its simplicity. It is very easy to use and does not require any special technical skills to get started. I’ve also made a detailed Youtube video on how to exactly use Loom like a PRO!

Simply download the app, sign up for an account, and you can start creating and sharing videos in just a few minutes. The interface is intuitive and user-friendly, making it easy to record and share videos on the go.

Another great feature of Loom is its ability to edit and customize videos. You can trim the length of your video, add captions and annotations, and even change the appearance of your video with different themes and layouts. This makes it easy to create professional-looking videos without the need for expensive software or specialized editing skills.

In terms of security, Loom takes the privacy and security of its users very seriously. All videos are encrypted and stored securely, and users have complete control over who can view and access their videos.

Overall, Loom is a powerful and easy-to-use video messaging tool that is perfect for remote teams and individuals who need to communicate visually. It is well worth checking out for anyone looking to streamline their communication and improve the way they share information with others.
